In this day of infidelity and skepticism, there is no lesson more important than
this lesson on the Word of God. Lesson No. 1 is designed to teach the truth on the
inspiration of the Bible. There are those who deny the Bible in its entirety; these men
we call infidels. There are those who deny the verbal inspiration of the Bible when it
contradicts their denominational creeds. The claim that the Living Oracles make for
themselves is that the Word of God is perfect, "converting the soul" (Psalm 19:7).
Jude declares that the faith has been "once delivered to the saints" (Jude 3), and
Peter adds to this testimony when he declares that God has given us "all things that
pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory
and virtue" (II Peter 1:3-4). One of the warnings of God to His people is that they
neither add to nor take from the sacred Oracles (Revelation 22:18-19).
The conclusion to this is that the Bible, and the Bible alone, is the only creed
for the church, and to follow it and it alone is our only hope. It is complete in its
revelation of the Word of God, and perfect in meeting the spiritual needs of all men.
Paul said, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be
perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (II Timothy 3:16-17). We cannot,
therefore, add to it or subtract from it without destroying its completeness and
perfection. To deny any one passage as having been given by inspiration is equal to
denying all of it, and to accept anything as the Word of God other than what is
revealed in the Bible, is the same as saying the Bible is unimportant. Let us first,
therefore, lay aside all of our creeds, opinions, beliefs, practices, etc., and study the
Word of God with an open Bible and an open mind. If the law of the Lord is perfect to convert the soul (Psalm 19:7), then creeds, manuals,
disciplines, confessions of faith, etc., are not necessary.
Without obedience to the Word of God we cannot be made clean in the sight of God, (John 15:3).
The new birth cannot be
accomplished until the incorruptible seed of the Word
of God is planted in the heart of the individual and obeyed, (1 Peter 1:23). Foreign to God's
Word is the teaching that a man can be born again by some mysterious force acting
on his heart before he has obeyed the dictates of God as expressed in His Word. Salvation of the soul is impossible
unless we receive with meekness the engrafted word, (James 1:21).
True gospel
preachers are to preach the Word only, (II Timothy 4:2).
Human opinions, decrees of popes, or councils are not part of the true gospel message.

If you have given bible answers to these questions, the
Following facts should be apparent:
1. All human creeds are completely unnecessary.
2. No man can be saved without complete obedience to the Word of God (Matthew
7:21).
3. When the book of Revelation was completed, the Word of God was settled and
sealed by the blood of Christ and it cannot be added to or taken from. It is complete
and it is perfect. No man, therefore, can receive a modern day revelation from God.
(It can be proven that the person who claims a modern day revelation is a false
prophet; either false in his claim, or false in his message.)
4. We should all have the utmost respect for the utterances of God, and His Word
MUST be the final appeal in all matters religious, for by it we shall be judged in the
final day.
