THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY SEARCHER VOLUME 7, NUMBER 7, FEBRUARY 18, 2007 WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY! Everybody knows that we have been experiencing some unusually severe winter weather over the last month. It could be worse; we could be living in upstate western New York. The cold, snow, and ice have made getting outside difficult for several of our members and we have all missed seeing those brothers and sisters at services. At the same time we would all have to agree that pristine, newly fallen snow is beautiful and even though ice is so dangerous, ice-covered trees look like they are made out of the finest crystal. I marvel at the wonder of God’s creation and am reminded of God’s question to Job in Job 38:22, “Have you entered the treasury of the snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail?” Even though it has been inconvenient, the weather has also provided us with a good opportunity to serve each other. Older brothers and sisters have needed their driveways shoveled, and that has been done. I know that brethren have picked up the telephone and checked on each other, particularly those who may be in a position to need a little extra attention. This is a good thing and a blessing; both to be given the opportunity by God to serve and to be the recipient of such service. One of the practical results of being a Christian is the willingness to serve. Remember 1 John 3:17 -18, “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” Greg Litmer
