THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY SEARCHER VOLUME 5, NUMBER 21, MAY 29, 2005 BIBLE TALK IS BACK The elders of this congregation have planned for us to go back on the air, either via television or radio, beginning in June. This is a part of our continued desire to evangelize the community. We have been blessed with the opportunity to go back on WTSJ, 1050 AM, beginning June 6. This time we will have the time slot that we originally wanted the last time we were on that station. We will be in early DRIVE TIME, 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It will be a call-in program. WTSJ is owned by Salem Communications and is under entirely new management. The facility itself has been greatly updated and they are truly pleased to have us on the air. The normal cost for a ½ hour program at the time we have is $100.00. However, WTSJ is giving us the time for $65.00 a program to start. It will go to $70.00 a program in January, $75.00 a program some months after that, and ultimately to $80.00 a program in a little over a year and a half. It is a great price and a glorious opportunity. It will be necessary for us to prime the pump a little bit with calls to the program. Please be prepared to listen and call in with your Bible questions and comments. We will again need volunteers to answer the phone here at the church building while the program is on the air. We will be giving the number of the church over the air for folks to request correspondence courses, tracts and booklets, and other information. Right now the plans are for Albert Dickson of the Mill Road congregation, Scott Taylor of the West Mason congregation, and Adam Litmer of the Evendale congregation to help me on the program. Albert will be with me in the beginning every first and fifth weeks of the month. Adam will be with me the second and fourth weeks, with Scott helping every third week. Each one of these men is fully capable of stepping in and running the program when I am gone and each one is solid in the scriptures. Brethren, please pray for the success of the program. The fields are white to harvest and this is just one more method of finding those who are interested. Help by listening and calling in with your questions and tell everyone you know about Bible Talk in Drive Time. Greg MEETING MUSINGS My meetings for this spring are just about over. I will be in Hillsboro, Ohio for a one-day preaching appointment June 11. As is always the case there were some interesting events that took place and some observations that were made. Brethren are pretty much the same wherever you go. Each congregation, large or small, has wonderful people in it who will do their very best to make you feel at home. Each congregation, large or small, has brethren in it who have absolutely made the commitment to the Lord. I saw older brethren who were ill and not feeling a bit well put forth the effort to come to every service of a meeting. Why? Because the Lord was first in their hearts and that is where they wanted to be. What an encouragement such brethren are. I saw mothers and fathers of little children come and struggle with some tired kids, but they were there every single service. I saw brethren who had cut short business and pleasure trips to make it to the meetings and others who were so tired from work that they could hardly keep their eyes open. But they were there. I must also say that every congregation, no matter where it is or how large or small, also has some that are just not going to attend no matter what. I was actually at one congregation where one night there were more visitors than members and that was just because most of the members stayed home. Is the day of the gospel meeting ended? I don’t know, but I do know that the day of the dedicated Christian had better not be over – and it isn’t. There is a remnant that is just as dedicated, just as faithful, just as determined as any Christians ever were anywhere. The brethren in St. Peter’s, Missouri, are building a new church building, and they are doing a great deal of the work in order to save money. I got the opportunity to spend a Friday nailing nails with them. It was a joy, almost as much fun as nailing nails with Marvin, Harry, Keith, Shirley, and others here. Their new building is nothing fancy, but it is functional, and they are excited and are acting as good stewards of the Lord’s money. Let’s remember them as they are working so hard. The best preachers and elders that I have met are those who don’t know that they are. There are truly some godly, humble and completely dedicated men out there that I have been privileged to meet. Thank you, Lord, for that. And it just so happens to be the case that behind and standing with each one of those men was a godly, humble, gracious and kind wife. I already knew this, but came to appreciate it once again, we have good singing here at Northern Kentucky and a number of skilled song leaders. Again, I am inclined to think that the best ones are those who don’t know that they are. I know that the Lord is most concerned with whether or not we are doing the best we can in our worship in song – not necessarily how it sounds. However, to these faulty ears our singing sounds really good. Finally, and as always, I find myself agreeing with Dorothy, “There’s no place like home.” Greg Litmer
